Competitions

When registering for the conference, you can indicate in which competitions you wish to participate.

Old Guard Oral Presentation Competition

Give a 15-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Question and Answer that addresses an aspect of engineering and get the chance to win a trip to compete in the International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE). 

 

Note: No more than 2 participants from a college/university can register to participate in the competition at the SPDC

General Rules:

Rapid Design Competition

In this competition, groups will compete in accomplishing design tasks with limited time and resources. If you like being challenged, this competition is what you should be looking for!

 

Student Design Competition

The ASME Student Design Competition provides a platform for ASME Student Members to present their solutions to a range of design problems - from everyday household tasks to groundbreaking space exploration.

Each team is required to design, construct and operate a prototype meeting the requirements of an annually determined problem statement.

Old Guard Technical Poster Competition

Do you want to know how well you can communicate your work with others?

This competition aims to emphasize the ability to deliver a visual presentation.

Your poster should be related to some area in Mechanical Engineering.

General Rules:

Mechatronics Competition

Consists of designing and building a mechatronics hardware within a determined period of time.

The participants will be given all the needed components and can be in teams of two.
